2. I Love You, by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

3. A Red, Red Rose, by Robert Burns
Scottish poet Robert Burns, traditionally remembered on Burns Night, wrote this Scots song in 1794. It's a timeless love poem and because it symbolises roses it makes it a great Valentine's Day sentiment for your loved one, especially if you want to compare your love to an everlasting rose.

4. How Do I Love Thee? by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
It might feel dark, but this poem is a symbol that love can go beyond death and it captures the millions of ways that love manifests - from the physical to the spiritual. And it's thought this poem was written by Elizabeth Browning dedicated to her husband Robert Browning. It is the second to last and most famous sonnet of the collection, Sonnet 43.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.

5. A Glimpse, by Walt Whitman
If you often find yourself sat in a room with your other half and barely a word is spoken, this is the poem for you. There are two types of couples, the one that cannot stop talking when they're in each other's company(and often mistaken for a date or relationship honeymoon phase) and the other that has barely spoken two words to each other all night. And while it can be easy to assume that the latter couple have a stale relationship, this poem sheds hope and light on the possibility that it isn't stale at all, that love has the power to remain constant and special regardless of the every day disruptions.
A glimpse through an interstice caught,
Of a crowd of workmen and drivers in a bar-room around the stove late of a winter night, and I unremark’d seated in a corner,

6. Sonnet 18, by William Shakespeare
One of the best-known of the 154 sonnets written by the English playwright and poet William Shakespeare. The speaker is wondering whether to compare the fair youth of its recipient to a summers' day but realises that they have qualities that are greater than a summers day. It teaches us that both love and beauty can be captured forever in poetry and if you love someone so much then you too can immortalise them in a poem so that they can never truly die.

In any relationship there is always the one who says I love you first or who falls in love at first sight and for the other, it takes a little more time to get those feelings. But fear not, for this poem while admits the writer fell in love first, it acknowledges that when he fell in love with her, it was much stronger - a great way to tell someone you can't hurry love.
