Holy yumminess. Even though I’ve had an air fryer for two years, I just got my Ninja foodi. I saw this post and decided finally to air fry some bacon in my foodi because my turkey sandwich looked so naked on its own. Wow. I won’t be pulling out a pan for cooking bacon anymore. Thank you for such an obvious idea. It only took 10 minutes with no flipping and I didn’t have to stand by any pan.

Do you like cooking bacon this way or with the rack better? I like saving bacon grease to use when cooking other foods like cabbage or green beans. Y’all are my favorite people!! Love you❤

Just tried doing bacon in Foodi Air fryer and I love It. I like the way the bacon comes out not as greasy as it does for me in the fry pan. I also like it as it not as messy lol. My Foodi has a medal rack insert and the black air fry insert, tried them both and both eays is good. I did notice with the medal rack the bacon does get a little crispy quicker. As alway it always depends on your bacon. But try it and see for yourself, you will love it.

I put in my raised Instant Pot egg cooker, on top of tree Air Crisper basket, and drape a full rasher of bacon, so each slice mostly hangs down. It crisps up perfectly, drains fat, and is ready so fast without any painful splatters

Just got a ninja foodi, and am brand new to pressure cooking. I can’t wait to try some of your recipes. I tried the Mac n cheese in the ninja cookbook, they diffinately have an error, to much salt. Please if you try this don’t add 2 tablespoons of.salt.

Surely that is two *teaspoons* of salt. Two tablespoons of salt is a ton of salt.

Yes it was awful, but what I learned is you are supposed to use kosher salt which is different, however, for me, it’s still to much, I just do my own seasons.

FAQs

Should you put water in the bottom of an air fryer when cooking bacon? ›

Preheat the air fryer at 320°F for 5 minutes. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the bottom of the air fryer to minimize smoke. Place bacon in a single layer into the preheated air fryer basket.

Do you put foil in the air fryer when cooking bacon? ›

Tips for the best result

Using foil retains some of the fat/moisture which will prevent your bacon from drying out. Empty grease before making more batches. Flip the bacon slices half way through. Space bacon out so there is room for the air to circulate.

Do you have to flip bacon when air frying? ›

You only have to try cooking bacon in the Air Fryer once for it to become your new favorite way to cook bacon. It's perfectly crisp every time and since the air circulates, there's no need to flip the bacon halfway.

How long does it take to cook bacon in a Ninja air fryer? ›

Set the air fryer to 200C and cook streaky bacon rashers for 6-10 mins – just-cooked bacon will take 6 mins, but crispier bacon will take 9-10 mins.

Where does the grease go when you air fry bacon? ›

It doesn't sit in grease.

Unlike bacon that is cooked on a sheet pan in the oven, or in a skillet on the stovetop, the air fryer allows the bacon grease to drip into the pan below as it cooks, so the bacon strips will be less greasy when they are done.

How do you keep bacon from curling in an air fryer? ›

If the strips do overlap, they probably won't all cook fully and evenly. Bacon doesn't normally blow around too much in an air fryer, but if you want to keep it from curling, you can place a small rack directly on top. I used the trivet from my Instant Pot.

Should I use parchment paper for air fryer bacon? ›

If you want to reduce the mess you have to clean after air-frying your bacon, place a parchment paper liner in the bottom of your air fryer. You can use parchment paper from a roll, but premade air fryer liners are perforated with holes to ensure air can still flow around the bacon and crisp it evenly.

Where does the grease go in an air fryer? ›

Excess oil ends up in the drawer under the grate, but if there's too much buildup, it might smoke. Generally speaking, if there's already fat on the food (skin-on chicken, for example, or frozen fried food), you might not need to oil the food at all.

Is cooking bacon in an air fryer messy? ›

In just nine minutes, you can have hot bacon ready to serve. The best part about the air fryer is that the grease collects underneath the basket in the drawer, so there's no grease splatters in the kitchen and the grease is a cinch to discard (simply tip the drawer to pour off).

Can you put a paper towel in an air fryer? ›

Airflow is essential to the machine, so while a paper towel is useful for cleaning, it should not be used while cooking food in the air fryer. It can restrict the airflow of the machine and even catch fire. It's important to remember that the air inside the air fryer can get very hot.

What is the best temperature to air fry bacon? ›

Preheat an air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions. Lay bacon in the air fryer basket in a single layer; some overlap is okay. Fry for 8 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until bacon is crisp, about 7 minutes more.

Why does my air fryer smoke when I cook bacon? ›

Speaking previously to HuffPost, recipe developer Brenda Peralta, of FeastGood.com, urged people to think twice before rushing to throw a handful of rashers in the air fryer. According to the food expert, “bacon is a fatty food, and when it is cooked in an air fryer, the fat can drip down and cause smoke or splatter”.

How to cook bacon in a Ninja multi cooker? ›

STEP ONE: Place 4-5 strips of bacon in the bottom of the air crisper basket of your Ninja Foodi. Make sure that the strips don't overlap — it's better to cook in batches! STEP TWO: Air fry at 395 degrees F for 10 minutes. Flip halfway through so that your bacon cooks evenly.

How long does bacon take in a ninja grill? ›

The recommended temperature for cooking bacon in a Ninja Foodi Grill is around 400°F (200°C). As for the cooking time, it usually takes about 10-15 minutes, but it can vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and desired crispiness.

How to stop an air fryer from smoking when cooking bacon? ›

For this recipe, I set the air fryer to a lower temperature of 320F, and the time to 9 minutes. This is truly the best temperature to avoid smoke and for the best results. This is with thin bacon, so if your bacon is thicker, it will take a little longer. You can check on the bacon and add more time if you need to.
