Bacon is one of those things I love to eat but hate to cook.

I love putting crumbled bacon on salads or veggies, or throwing a slice onto burgers, tacos or sandwiches, or serving a few pieces alongside fried eggs or omelettes. That salty, smokey, savory crunch is like no other!

As for cooking bacon, hall pass please! When cooking on the stove top, bacon grease splatters all over the stove. And in the oven, a layer of hot grease on a thin cookie sheet always makes me nervous.

So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered crispy air-fryer bacon! In just nine minutes, you can have hot bacon ready to serve. The best part about the air fryer is that the grease collects underneath the basket in the drawer, so there’s no grease splatters in the kitchen and the grease is a cinch to discard (simply tip the drawer to pour off).

Now I love to make crispy air-fryer bacon on Sundays and (as long as we don’t eat it all, lol) have it ready to add to anything during the week. Did you know you can make hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer, too? That’s another one of those foods I love to have around but hate to cook 🙂 Check out the recipe (here) if you’re interested!

  • Makes 8-9 slices thick cut bacon

Ingredients

12 ounces thick-cut bacon

Instructions

  1. Place 4 or 5 slices thick-cut bacon, lying flat, in the basket of the air fryer.
  2. Cook at 400 degrees F for 9 minutes. (**For thin-cut bacon, check the bacon after 5-6 minutes, as thin-cut will cook faster.**)
  3. Using tongs, carefully transfer bacon from basket to a paper-towel-lined plate. Carefully drain hot grease from under the basket and discard.
  4. Repeat process with remaining bacon. Enjoy!

MAKE-AHEAD TIP: Bacon can be made up to four days in advance. Store in an air-tight storage container in the refrigerator.
