Sweet and salty is my go to combo, especially when it comes to snacks. This easy trail mix recipe is another way I love to enjoy roasted nuts with sweet maple.

If you feel like you are CONSTANTLY picking out the good stuff when it comes to trail mix, making your own is so convenient, cost effective and allows you to only put the ingredients in that you love!

Why this trail mix recipe works:

  • It is so easy to make. Toss all the ingredients in a bowl and then roast. Allow to cool and you are ready to snack!
  • It's super customizable. You can adjust the ingredients to meet your needs. I love this and these Trail Mix Bars because I never have to make them exactly the same way twice. Feel free to sub the pecans for cashews, or maybe use dried cranberries instead of raisins. You can add in chocolate chips after the trail mix has cooled as well.
  • Stays fresh for up to two months. Make this easy maple trail mix recipe and eat off of it for a long time. It will stay fresh in an air tight container at room temperature for a decent amount of time!

Ingredients:

  • almonds
  • pecans
  • pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
  • golden raisins
  • coconut flakes
  • coconut oil
  • maple syrup
  • sea salt
  • vanilla

Ingredient notes and swaps:

  • You can use canola oil instead of coconut oil if preferred. If you don't like the flavor of coconut oil, refined coconut oil is another great swap.
  • Coconut flakes are ideal in this easy roasted trail mix recipe as they are much larger pieces than shredded coconut. They will not be as messy and easier to grab on the go when you are munching on this snack.
  • You can use honey instead of maple syrup if you prefer.

Expert Tips:

  • Since this roasted trail mix is an on the go type of snack, the oil and maple syrup are minimal. This is to reduce the level of stickiness of your snack. If you want a bit more sweetness to this recipe, you can certainly add it!
  • If you want to add any sort of chocolate chunks or chips into this recipe, wait until after it has cooled. Otherwise things will get very messy!
  • This trail mix with roasted almonds and all the other goodies will form clusters if you allow it to cool completely before touching it. Then you can break it into small pieces and enjoy!

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl.

  • Spread evenly on a parchment lined baking sheet.

  • Bake for about 15 minutes.

  • Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes and enjoy. Store at room temperature in an air tight container.
