The French onion gravy is known far and wide for its rich and cheesy flavours accompanied by a velvety thick texture imparted by melted Swiss cheese and sautéed onions. The gravy goes beautifully well with a side of rice, bread, or even egg noodles. Alternatively, the gravy can be one upped by adding more vegetables or meat chunks. The French onion chicken is one such recipe that brings together the yumminess of thick and comforting French onion soup and mildly seasoned chicken breast.

While the recipe can be made well with regular onions, there is nothing quite like French onion gravy made with the slightly sweet Vidalia onions. But as mentioned before, regular onions also do the job fairly well. follow the recipe below to whip up a warm bowl of French onion chicken tonight and enjoy it with some freshly sliced baguette. Slurp!
