I first made this peach sangria for an end of summer party I hosted in 2017. We luckily had a beautiful 85-degree day for the party, so this refreshingly sweet sangria was a hit with party guests.

Yet the biggest perk as a party hostess was how quick and easy this sangria was to put together the morning of the party.

Since then, this sangria has become a favorite for my at-home date nights, particularly in mid- to late summer when Michigan peaches are in season.

What do you need to make peach sangria?

This six-ingredient peach sangria recipe calls for:

  • Simple syrup — This is easy to make by boiling water with sugar, but you can skip this step by using a pre-made simple syrup.
  • Fresh peaches— Though I recommend using fresh peaches when they are in season, you can substitute with frozen peaches.
  • Peach Schnapps — I used DeKuyper® Peachtree® Schnapps, but you can make your own homemade peach liqueur.
  • Dry White Wine — I recommend using a Pinot Grigio. One of my local favorites is from Bowers Harbor Vineyards in Traverse City, Michigan. The Bowers Harbor Pinot Grigio showcases citrus and tropical fruit flavors, which makes it a great wine for white sangria. You’ll find it at many grocery stores and wine retailers in Michigan in the Michigan or local wine section.
  • Ginger Ale— I recommend Fever Tree Premium Ginger Ale or, for a more budget-friendly option, Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

When is the best time to make peach sangria?

Whenever you can get fresh peaches in season near you is the best time to make this peach sangria!

Georgia may be known as the Peach State, but South Carolina, California, and New Jersey are also top peach-growing states in the United States. Therefore, you’ll find the peaches in season from as early as April to as late as October in the US.

Here is a breakdown of peach season for some of the top peach-growing states:

  • Mid-May through early August for Georgia and South Carolina
  • May through early September for California
  • July through September for New Jersey and Michigan
  • September through October for Idaho

Here in Michigan, growers produce more than 21.2 million pounds of peaches annually — making my home state the largest peach grower of the Midwest.

Most of Michigan’s peach orchards are located in the west central to southwest corner near Lake Michigan, but peaches also grow in the Grand Rapids area and near Lake St. Clair on the eastern side of the state.

Our local Michigan peaches are in season from July through September, and you’ll find them at local farmers’ markets, roadside farm stands, orchards with U-pick fields, and even major grocery stores.

Simple Peach Sangria Recipe

This recipe is so simple and only takes six ingredients! You’ll be prepped within 10 minutes, and you can make this sangria an hour before serving or even the night before.

To make this recipe even easier, you can purchase pre-made simple syrup. However, simple syrup is very easy to make, especially if you already have sugar on hand. For the wine, I recommend using a Pinot Grigio, but any dry white wine will do.
