The day has roots in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, which honored the god Lupercus. The day is also linked to the Feast of St. Valentine, a Christian feast day that honors a third-century saint.
It was in the Middle Ages that Valentine’s Day first became associated with romantic love at a time when the concept of courtly love flourished which was a code of conduct that emphasized nobility and chivalry.
However, by the 15th century, Valentine’s Day had become associated with romance and gift-giving.
Over the years the day has evolved in so many ways. However, Valentine’s Day is not just about romance. It is also a day to remember the spiritual side of love.

The word “valentine” comes from the Latin word “valens", which means “worthy, strong, or powerful".
In the Bible, the word “valentine” is used about God’s love for us. He is the ultimate Valentine who loved us so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins.
