We all know about name-brand outlets by now, but here’s a new one I’m thrilled to share – furniture floor model sales; where you can find ex display sofas, tables, accessories and more for a major discount.

These display sales let you snag your favorite pieces at up to half the price. That’s right, up to a whopping 50% off!

Furniture samples vary from location to location, which makes it a fun one to browse if you have multiple stores near you.

In this guide, we’ll dive into the wonderful world of floor model sales and how they can turn your budget-friendly home decor dreams into a reality. From cozy sofas to chic mirrors, these sales are your golden ticket to affordable sophistication.

Here are the brands that offer furniture sample sales throughout the year at retail locations:

1) Anthropologie Sample Sale:

Twice a year, during design resets, these 28 Anthropologie Design Centers offer sample furniture at 50% off discounts on select items! These treasures may be in perfect condition or have slight wear and tear.

So when does it happen? Floor sample furniture sales start in September and March of every year and last 2-3 weeks.

Although the most recent Anthropologie liquidation sale JUST ended, you might have luck finding some straggler discounted pieces like I did a couple of days ago!

I found the Emma mirror, Mavis chandelier, Oak Farmhouse chair and three Perch stools for 50% off at the Walnut Creek design center!

Inventory availability will vary from store to store, but give yours a call to see if anything is left.

Want to be there on day 1 of the next sale? You can actually be notified about any upcoming floor model sales.

Just call your local design center and ask to be added to the floor model sale notification list. They’ll reach out to you once there are sale details!

2) Serena and Lily Floor Model Sale

Serena and Lily design shops usually let you grab their floor samples at a sweet discount at their end of season sale.

It typically kicks off in January and August each year and lasts a 4-5 weeks. You can expect a decent 20% off to start, butt the longer those samples hang around, the better the deal gets.

During these sales, you do typically have to wait a few weeks before you can pick them up (once their design set changes), so keep that in mind if you need something immediately.

Here’s a little story from one of my awesome supporters: she snagged a fantastic 35% discount on a Grady sofa during one of these floor model sales. Pretty impressive, right?

And the best part? The folks working there are super helpful.

When she called to check on availability and explore fabric options, they had her back. The sales associate went the extra mile by sending her photos so she could make her purchase over the phone hassle-free.

• Full payment is required at the time of purchase.

3) Pottery Barn Floor Model Sale

You can also find Pottery Barn closeouts, but they can be a bit tricky to predict.

From what I’ve gathered, it seems like they might target you based on your location and shoot you an email when there’s a sale happening.

Just to give you an idea, I got an email about a sample sale at my local store in late August 2022, which was great.

But, funny enough, I didn’t hear a peep about a Pottery Barn flood sample sale happening way over in Glen Mills, PA in December of the year before.

It was quite the steal, lasting about a week, and the discounts ranged from 10-40% off. So, while Pottery Barn liquidation sales might be a bit mysterious, it’s worth keeping an eye on.

4) CB2 Floor Model Sale

CB2 tends to do floor samples sales a bit differently, with more of a flash sale model and on weekends only.

You can expect discounts starting at 15%-30% off (sale dependent)! Sign up for floor model notifications here.

Here are the historical sample sale dates based on my emails from CB2. You can see they put on less sales in 2023:

• 5/20/22 – starting 15% off

5) Ballard Designs Floor Model Sale

Another amazing furniture company to bring us some big discounts on floor model items is Ballard Designs. Discounts typically start at 30% off but actually increase as high as 60% off as the sale progresses.
